How To FIGHT Muscle Loss From AGING

The less muscle you have, the faster you age and the shorter your health span.

The more muscle you have, the more energy you have.

You could use more muscle.

Muscles make you look good in clothes.

They support your immune system.

They improve your vascular system and help your blood pressure.

The skeletal muscle is the largest endocrine organ in the body.

The muscle is the primary site for glucose disposal. The secondary is insulin. You’re more healthy having a lot of muscle to regulate your sugar levels.

The body also leverages the amino acid reservoir of your muscle tissue.

The more muscle mass you have, the higher your survivability.

Longevity evidence shows that an intake of 1.6-1.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight is preferred over the RDA of .8, especially as we age.

1 gram per pound of body weight is a good rule of thumb. Eating a robust amount of protein – approximately 30-50 grams of protein per meal – allows MTOR to lay down new muscle.
